Another Covid vaccine from India

Indian health authorities yesterday (Jan. 20) approved the emergency use of the ‘Cykov-D’ Covid vaccine, manufactured by India’s pharmaceutical company ‘Sydus Cadillac’.

The three-dose vaccine can be given to anyone over the age of 12, according to Indian media.

It is also the world’s first DNA vaccine against the new corona virus.

Sydus Cadillah expects to produce between 100 and 120 million doses of this vaccine annually.

Around 28,000 volunteers from across the country were involved in the clinical trials of the vaccine, which showed an effectiveness of 66.6%.

Meanwhile, a large-scale Covid control vaccination program has been launched in South Africa, which is at high risk of spreading the virus.

It is expected to give 300,000 doses a day.

Foreign media reports say that people who came to get the vaccine are waiting in long queues.

Israeli authorities have decided to give a third dose of Covid vaccine to all people over the age of 40 and teachers to control the spread of the Delta variety.

It uses the Pfizer Biotech vaccine.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Naphtali Bennett received his third dose of anti-Covid vaccine yesterday.

The Japanese capital, Tokyo, is reportedly experiencing the worst outbreak of the Covid epidemic.

Hospitals in Tokyo are overflowing with patients due to the rapid spread of the Delta variety.

Authorities at a Tokyo hospital have rejected a request by organizers to admit athletes facing emergencies during the Paralympic Games, reports say.

The number of global Covid virus infections has now exceeded 214 million.
