Indian health authorities yesterday (Jan. 20) approved the emergency use of the ‘Cykov-D’ Covid vaccine, manufactured by India’s pharmaceutical company ‘Sydus Cadillac’.
The three-dose vaccine can be given to anyone over the age of 12, according to Indian media.
It is also the world’s first DNA vaccine against the new corona virus.
Sydus Cadillah expects to produce between 100 and 120 million doses of this vaccine annually.
Around 28,000 volunteers from across the country were involved in the clinical trials of the vaccine, which showed an effectiveness of 66.6%.
